School Meals

From September 2025 the school meals will be provided by a new contractor - Taylor Shaw. please find below a welcome letter and information on how to register your child's medical or dietary needs.

Our lunchtime takes place from 12.00 – 1.15pm. There are two sittings so that we can accommodate all the children in the hall during this time and allow them to have a playtime too. During this time our very experienced Midday Assistants supervise the children in the hall and on the playground.

Our school meals are provided by a contracted Catering Service who work hard to provide nutritionally balanced meals for the children. Menus provide a wide range of choices, including hot and cold options, and a salad bar is also available. We regard lunchtimes as an opportunity to develop social skills, when children learn how to use good manners, make healthy choices and to eat in a social environment. From September 2014, all pupils in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 will receive a free meal at no cost to the parent/carer.

A small number of children bring packed lunches to school. If you wish your child to do so please send the lunch and a drink in a small bag with your child’s name and class clearly marked. Children who have packed lunches are seated in the hall with children who have school meals.

Registering for free meals could raise an extra £1,500approx per pupil for our school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching staff or extra curricular activities.

This additional money is available from central government for every child whose parent is receiving qualifying welfare benefits. It is therefore important to sign up for free school meals, so that our school receives as much funding as possible.

If you would like to request an application form, or require further information, please see Mrs Aldcroft in the office for a confidential chat.

We are proud to have received our Healthy School Award in 2010. We encourage all children to adopt a healthy lifestyle by learning about their bodies and understanding how to keep themselves fit and healthy.

Every day, children in the Infant classes are offered a free piece of fruit as a snack. Junior children should bring a healthy snack from home to enjoy during the school day. Cooled drinking water is available throughout the day in all classrooms.

If your child does not eat fruit, we ask that you provide a healthy alternative snack, such as sultanas or raisins. Please do not send in sugary foods or drinks.

We also celebrate birthdays as a whole school, with children receiving stickers and bookmarks to mark their special day. To support our commitment to healthy eating, we kindly ask that no sweets, cakes or other sweet treats are brought into school.

Parents can also purchase milk for snack times which is paid online at www.coolmilk.com
